Summary: Celebrate Agatha Christie Week, September 13th – 20th with an Agatha Award winning mystery. The Virgin of Small Plains by Nancy Pickard won the 2006 Agatha Award: Best Novel. The story is set in Small Plains, Kansas where an unidentified young woman’s battered and naked body is discovered during a blizzard. The disturbing incident rallies the town to bury the young woman in the local cemetery where miracles seem to occur for those who faithfully tend her grave. These events slowly create the legend of the Virgin of Small Plains. The story moves between the present to 17 years before when the mysterious death occurred. Abby Reynolds, Small Plains local and landscaper, becomes an amateur detective who tries to piece together the events the night the mysterious young woman was found and Abby’s teenage boyfriend was whisked away by his family,
and not to be seen until years later.
